WHAT HAPPENS IF
THE NEW BUILD PROJECT DOES NOT PASS?
What
Happens If The New Build Project Does Not Pass?
·
The district will be forced to add portable classrooms at
a cost of $100,000 each. 100%
of the cost of these units are borne by tax payers; there
is no state reimbursement for portables in this situation.
·
The region must still find a long-term solution to the
problem of overcrowding.
·
The school system will be further destabilized.
-
More students will be denied courses
-
It will be more difficult to acquire quality teaching
staff,
-
Accreditation will be at risk.
·
Safety will become a real issue as overcrowding will
exceed safety codes.
·
Expensive repair
projects that have been put off for years will have to be undertaken
with no state reimbursement ($16 M with no added space).
·
The question would remain if ‘No’ votes were meant to
dissolve the region or go for a renovation.
